Sunny Deol is back in his favorite role – doing dhishum, dhishum scenes and making people cry out for help.
Arjun Pandit is a story of a soft, goody -goody guy who turns into a virtually possessed lover. The Pandit in the title comes from his background of a language professor in a college where he is known as Arjun Dikshit.
Arjun Dixit (Sunny Deol) is a yoga professor in Hardwar who speaks in pure Hindi. Nisha (Juhi Chawla) comes over from Mumbai to do some research. Nisha lures Arjun to fall in love with her but she herself have no feelings for him. Her love for him is nothing but a charade to take revenge for the death of her sister.
A tame Arjun had refused to give evidence against the rogue son of the woman MLA who had raped a college girl. This leads to her suicide and Nisha cleverly leads on Arjun to finally get him involved in a murder case. Arjun fails to convince her about his reasons for backing out.
As a true lover, Arjun can kill anyone for his ladylove. As a consequence, Sanjay (Arbaaz Khan) gets killed and Arjun enters the world of crime, where he comes face to face with gangsters like Haldiram (Ashish Vidyarthi) and Ramanibhai (Mukesh Rishi).
Haldiram exploits Arjun's sentiments to settle scores with his rival, Ramanibhai for a share of the Mumbai's crime pie.
Well, as always happens, the truth prevails and all is well in the end.
The fight sequences, especially one amidst silent, praying monks on a riverbank, are well executed.
Sunny Deol and Juhi have been paired a long time after their hit Darr. Sunny's trademark frown, glare and raw energy take the film forward at a fast pace. Juhi shows her experience and confidence in acting as the girl who till the very end refuses to acknowledge Sunny's fierce love for her.
Bhangra pop king Daler Mehndi teams up with Juhi for a foot-tapping song Kudiyan Shahar diyan. Ashish Vidyarthi has tried to speak the Bhojpuri language, which has become a common thing in Hindi movies. But one wonders how many underworld dons in Mumbai are from eastern UP and Bihar?

This film adds to the director's, David Dhawan, collection of number 1 films, such as the well known Coolie No.1 and Hero No.1. The 'King of comedy' has now bought Jodi No.1 to the big screen.
Dhawan has directed yet another entertaining film, full of jokes and humour, which he is hoping will bring in the money from his audience. Jodi No.1 focuses on Jai played by Sanjay Dutt and Veeru played by the all time favourite Govinda.
The two put together take on the role of a couple of small time crooks who get onto the wrong side of Mumbai’s infamous Don - Sir Paul (Ashish Vidyarthi) after fortuitously killing his younger brother Tiger.
In order to escape the wrath of the Don, the duo flee to Goa. Through a series of circumstances, they end up impersonating an NRI, Vikramjeet, and his secretary, and inveigle their way into the mansion of Vikramjeet’s uncle Rai Sahab (Anupam Kher).
Twinkle, Govinda, Monica and Sanjay. They soon discover that Rai Sahab’s wealth is a facade as the creditors have attached his property. When Rai Sahab has a heart attack, Jai and Veeru reveal their innate goodness in joining hands to help him.
But, whilst all this is going on, Sir Paul the Don tracks them down in Goa and is desperate to avenge his brothers death.

Expectations are high as the superstar of comedies is back with yet another comedy directed by veteran comedian Sajid Khan. The trailers were high on energy and succeeded in creating a buzz around the movie. So does the movie live upto the high expectations? Well to a certain extent, Yes.
Heyy Babyy is about 3 womanisers Arush (Akshay Kumar), Tanmay (Ritesh Deshmukh) and Ali (Fardeen Khan). Arush loves sleeping with babes and then ditching them. Tanmay is a party entertainer who enjoys playing with babies and babes too! Ali is a gambler cum womaniser. The 3 cool dudes are having a ball in Sydney. The formula is simple Flirt - Sleep - Ditch. But a sweet little baby girl changes their lives.. Forever! The cool dudes turn into loving and caring fathers. Just then their lives take yet another twist with the entry of Esha (Vidya Balan)..
Heyy Babyy has just the right ingredients for a perfect entertainer, comedy combined with emotions. The movie begins with a bang with brilliantly executed comic scenes that has the viewers in splits. The subsequent portions with the emotional bonding between Arush, Tanmay, Al and the Baby does tend to drag a bit. At the half way mark you start wondering just what could happen next, as the story requires a twist to carry it forward. But what works for the movie is the brilliant second half. The credit should go to Sajid Khan who handles every scene with brilliance. Most definitely a director to watch out in the future. The music is average. Mast Kalandhar is the song that stands out. The cinematography (Himman Dhamija) is stylish, Sydney and Brisbane has been shot well.
Akshay Kumar rocks in comedy but way below average in the emotional scenes. He is in full form in the portions between him and Vidya Balan in the second half. Ritesh Deshmukh isnt at his best which is disappointing. Fardeen Khan is surprisingly good. Vidya Balan has no scope for histrionics. She needs to work on her look. In western clothes she looks plumb but absolutely gorgeous in the traditional Indian saree! Boman Irani is brilliant. Anupam Kher and Shahrukh Khan have a brief special appearance.
A few things that worked
- Akshay Kumar wooing Vidya Balan in the second half. Hilarious!
- Chemistry between Akshay - Ritesh - Fardeen.
- The baby leaves a smile on your face.
- The crowd reaction when Shahrukh Khan appears on screen has to be experienced to be believed.
- The one liners.
A few things that didnt work
- The slow paced first half. 10 mins can easily be chopped off for better impact.
- The Music.
Also, some interaction between Anupam Kher and Shahrukh Khan would have been interesting as SRK plays Raj (from DDLJ).
Overall, Heyy Babyy is a well made comic entertainer which mainly works thanks to Akshay Kumar’s amazing comic timing. Worth a watch in theatre.
Heyy Babyy ends with a message from Sajid Khan which reads “Love you SRK”. I’d end this review with “We Love you Akshay” your just brilliant in comedies.

Terrible

Sholay is evergreen. It takes a lot of courage for a director to remake Indian Cinema’s most memorable movie ever. Ram Gopal Varma took up the challenge, but does he deliver?
Babban Singh (Amitabh Bachchan) a psychotic gangster has killed the entire family of Police officer Narsimha (Mohan Lal). Narsimha takes help from two small time crooks Heero (Ajay Devgan) and Raj (Prashanth Raj) to kill Babban Singh. The childhood friends arent aware that they are fencing themselves into such a deadly war that had just two options, win or die!. Their life of hardship finds peace in love. While Heero falls for tom-boyish Ghunghroo (Nisha Kothari), Durga (Sushmitha Sen) after facing a massive tragedy felt her life blossom in an unspoken bond developed between her and Raj.
The battle which involved revenge, anger and fire had just one way of winning, and that is the death of the other….
The name of the characters has changed. Amitabh Bachchan portraying the legendary character of Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan) is now Babban Singh. Thakur Baldev Singh (Sanjeev Kumar) is now Narsimha. Veeru (Dharmendra) is Heero, Jaidev a.k.a Jay (Amitabh Bachchan) is Raj, Basanti (Hema Malini) is Ghunghroo and Radha (Jaya Bachchan) is Durga.
Comparisons with the original are inevitable. So here we go..
* The chemistry and friendship shared between Heero and Raj (Jay and Veeru in the original) is completely non existent.
* RGV has messed up big time with the casting of the legendary characters. Except for Amitabh and Mohan Lal, the others disappoint.
* The emotions, drama and thrill is missing.
* Aag isnt a scene to scene rip off of the original. The story is the same, the scenes are completely different. But the Aag script leaves a lot to be desired.
* The scene that I was looking forward to most, was the suicide scene. Ajay devgan is so bad that you feel like burying your head deep into the pop corn tub. The direction and writing is worse!
* The choreography is pathetic.
* The songs are way below average.
* Ram Gopal Varma has got it all wrong, his execution is horrible to say the least.
The best thing about the movie is without doubt Amitabh Bachchan. He is brilliant as Babban Singh. Mohan Lal as always is top notch. Ajay Devgan is a mis-cast. Sushmitha Sen is good. Sushanth Singh deserved a meatier role. Prasanth Raj is expressionless throughout. Nisha Kothari cannot act! Urmila Matondkar is extremely hot. Abhishek Bachchan appears breifly for the song Mehbooba. The rest of the cast is strictly okay.
Overall, Ram Gopal Varma Ke Aag / Sholay is a below average product that desevers to be rejected by the audience. Take my advice, buy yourself a DVD of the original Sholay. Trust me, although you have already watched it several times, your gonna enjoy it a 1000 times more!
Sorry RGV, your upgraded version of Sholay is unbearable.
