Another great film from Ashutosh, following his previous successful movies like Swades and Lagaan. This is Ashutosh's biggest film so far with a strong star cast, a well written screenplay and great music by the master musician AR Rahman.



The movie contains many great scene and interactions between the protagonist couple. Both Hrithik and Aishwarya are perfect for the role Akbar and Jodhaa respectively. This may be the most Some memorable scenes includes the sword fight between the couple, when Akbar catches Jodhaa sight transfixed on his bare torso, then when the emperor tames a wild elephant, one-on-one combat scene in the climax.



The film also have been very well shoot by cinematographer Kiran Deohans, which can be seeing in the battle scenes and the visualization of the songs Khwaja mere khwaja and Azeem-o-shaan-shahenshah.



There have reports that the movie is not true to history, but if you go and see the movie for a Bollywood love story, then you will be pleasantly surprised. A must see movie for 2008. Pretty cookie cutter with a little bit of everything - romance, drama and mystery. Unfortunately, the film has taken a long period to hit the screens and despite the presence of the super-star [Shah Rukh Khan], it comes across as a jaded attempt.



Dushyant [Shah Rukh Khan], Jaya [Raveena Tandon], Sujit [Mohnish Bahl] and Nisha [Navneet Nishan] are childhood friends.



Dushyant aspires to become a successful singer, but is hard hit for money. Jaya helps Dushyant realize his dreams and ambitions. As Dushyant gets successful, cracks start surfacing on his relationship with Jaya. Reason: Dushyant values his career more than his love life.



Sujit and Nisha take advantage of this situation and try to get close to Dushyant. Nisha is keen to marry Dushyant because of his new-found status.



Meanwhile, Kamlesh Dhingra [Avtar Gill], who is Nisha's father, approaches Dushyant to finance his business venture but Rajpal [Kiran Kumar], Dushyant's mentor, turns down the offer. Rajpul has no faith on Dhingra.



Dhingra and Sujit plot to amass Dushyant's wealth by luring Dushyant to marry Nisha and in the process, get rid of Rajpal. But Dushyant comes to know of their evil plans?



The problem clearly lies in the fact that YEH LAMHE JUDAAI KE has taken years to reach the theatres. Besides the looks of the stars, the concept of the film is equally archaic. The viewer can actually predict what the next scene would be like.



Frankly, watching YEH LAMHE JUDAAI KE is akin to watching two films within one film. If the film begins with the SRK - Raveena track, the other track crops up from nowhere and that involves a bunch of newcomers, all non-actors.



There are several blanks in the narrative. Like, for instance, in one of the songs only the visuals of SRK and Raveena have been inserted, making it evident that the song was never filmed. Even the narrative looks like an unfinished job, with several questions remaining unanswered.



Director Birendra Nath Tiwari does make an attempt to join the loose ends of the film, but the outcome is least convincing. Music [Nikhil-Vinay, Rajendra Salil] seems inspired by the Nadeem-Shravan tracks, post-AASHIQUI. Cinematography is bad.



The looks of both Shah Rukh Khan and Raveena Tandon give the film a dated look. SRK is as usual, but the dubbing leaves a lot to be desired. It just doesn't sound like SRK. Raveena goes through her part mechanically. Mohnish Bahl is strictly okay. Navneet Nishan makes her presence felt. Kiran Kumar is adequate. Avtar Gill is so-so.

Master Dinanth (Amitabh Bachchan) is a freedom fighter and led the war against the British in 1942 and eventually won the independence in 1947. But after independence, the people's love for their country seems to be diminishing and they are too busy betraying it like rich businessman Thakur Pratab Singh (Amjad Khan). Masterji finds out about Thakur Pratab Singh's illegal activities such as smuggling of weapons and ammunition and gets him arrested. In revenge for putting him in prison, Pratab Singh gets Masterji's wife Bharati (Sharmila Tagore) and daughter Priti (Parveen Babi) kidnapped by Thakur's partner in crime Sher Singh (Kader Khan) to try and change his ways but to no avail. Thakur also provokes an attack on Masterji's home by the local villagers who accuse Dinanath of betraying his country and he is forced to flee his home with his young son Raju. His wife becomes a victim of leprosy and escapes from Sher Singh leaving her daughter Priti in a friend's care. Masterji is informed that his wife and daughter could be dead as they find a necklace of hers near the train tracks. Masterji is devastated by his wife and daughter's loss and he and his son move on with their life. They settle into a slum called Bharat Nagar which is divided in 4 sections with a don in each one of different backgrounds: Punjabi (Shammi Kapoor), Madrasi (Premnath). Bengali (Uttam Kumar) and Muslim (Parikshat Sahni). All of them love their own section but nobody thinks of themselves as Indian except Masterji. Masterji sets out trying to bring peace between the four dons and once they settle their differences the four underworld dons use the Masterji's stay in Bharat Nagar to cover up their own illegal activities. Fast Forward to 15 years later the year is 1962 and Masterji's now grown-up son Raju (also Amitabh Bachchan) turns out to be the opposite of his father by being draw into the underworld committing crimes to earn money with his father unaware of what he does. He starts working for Thakur Pratab Singh unaware that Thakur had once kidnapped his mother and sister many years earlier which caused their separation.
