Eklavya is a Big Bore of a film notwithstanding the encomiums heaped on the movie by witless Western critics and fawning Indian hacks.

Two things drag down Eklavya - a passionless performance by Bollywood's fading icon Amitabh Bachchan (a.k.a Big B in India) who plays the central character in the movie and a weak story.

The colours blaze through celluloid as Eklavya showcases Rajasthan, be it the palace of a king of yesteryear or be it camels raising a dust storm amidst desert sand dunes; the costumes show grand detailing and the camera sweeps around the actors, with minimal dialogue and strong dramatic imagery. Alas, the story is weak, the character development non-existent and the film is badly in need of a logical screenplay with powerful dialogue that can put the visuals together.
